St. James Episcopal Church
The St. James Episcopal congregation holds worship services in our CUMC sanctuary. We welcome their congregation into our midst. All are welcome to attend Holy Eucharist at 9:00am Sundays, followed by coffee hour in the Safe Haven Room at 10:00.
PFLAG Skagit
CUMC is a Reconciling congregation, inclusive of people regardless of their sexual orientations. In that spirit, we dedicated one of our rooms as our Safe Haven Room.
Our congregation has had a long and wonderful connection to PFLAG Skagit. They previously held their meetings in our Safe Haven Room, but they have outgrown our space and found a more centrally located meeting location in Mt Vernon. PFLAG meets on the 2nd Sunday of each from 5-7 pm in the large meeting room at Round Table Pizza at 115 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. The meeting includes an opportunity to share some food, conversation, and further the mission of support, education and advocacy. A small portion of the time will be for business and updates of coming events.
PFLAG is a support group for individuals and families in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community, their friends and allies and those wanting to honor diversity and grow their understanding in a respectful, helpful setting. You can learn more about PFLAG Skagit at their website, www.pflagskagit.org.
Habitat Village
Four homes have been built and financed by Skagit Habitat for Humanity. In 2008, the City of Sedro-Woolley granted us permission to subdivide the church property and our lot(s) next door to the church, to allow the construction of four homes. We support volunteer efforts on the project.
Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts — Troop/Pack 4067
We have hosted both Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops for many years. Some of our adult members are Scout leaders, and often our scout troops help out with service projects, such as spring clean-up of the church grounds.
You can learn more about our Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts program by going to their website here, or contact the church office.
Quilters By The River
We host a Quilters group that meets in our Fellowship Hall, making good use of lots of natural light and ample table space.
4-H Club
The Serendipity 4-H Club is open to boys and girls from kindergarten through high school seniors.
