Back-to-school? YOU could help a local child big-time!

Remember the excitement of starting a new school year? New teacher…maybe new classmates…maybe even a new school! But maybe your family wasn’t quite able to pull together the necessary school supplies, and that didn’t feel so good…so…

Each year, Central United Methodist Church works in partnership with the McKinney-Vento Liaison in the Sedro-Woolley School District. Our CUMC School Supply Drive benefits our less advantaged and homeless youth.

We gather suggested organizational tools and other supplies that are key to classroom learning in the school district. The McKinney-Vento Liaison holds the supplies until they are needed by school counselors..Supplies are dispersed as needs arise throughout the year.

You can help out the kids in Sedro-Woolley by donating supplies from this list, prepared by the McKinney-Vento Liaison.

Please use the box in the narthex or call the church to arrange a drop-off.

Here is the list:

  • Child-sized backpack
  • 3-ringed binders, 2-3 inches wide
  • Spiral notebooks, 1, 2, or 3 subjects
  • College-rule filler paper
  • Subject divider sets
  • Highlighters – sets of 2
  • Colored marking pens – sets of 8 to 12
  • Colored pencils – Sets of 8 or 10
  • Ball point pens – black or blue
  • 2 pencils
  • Erasers – large pink and pencil top
  • Flashdrive or math calculator (about $10)

If you are not able to shop yourself, maybe…perhaps…possibly….you could make a donation and one of our folks will do the shopping?!
